CONSERVATION PROGRAM FOR PERSIAN TOAD HEADED LIZARD

Enemies There are a lot of carnivore species predate on P. persicus. Among them are wild, domestic and synantropic species. Arthropods: Solphuga, Spiders: Lizards: Eremias strauchi Snakes: Eryx jaculus, Platyceps najadum, Hemorrhois nummifer, Malpolon mospessulanus, Telescopus fallax, Macrovipera lebetina. Birds: Lanius ssp., Passer ssp., Falco ssp., Acipiter ssp., Pica pica, Mammals: Vulpes vulpes, Canis lupus, Canis familiaris, Felis domesticus Human: Homo sapiens: researchers and zoo staff collect many lizards for research and zoo collections, amateurs and kids also collect lizards for fun. In 1990-2006 I personally saw about 50 cases when initially healthy and young toad-headed lizards died in a number of collections as a result of poor husbandry.
